Way before i met up with boy1′s teacher, i had already made a mental note to myself to take the boy out for a nice brunch, for his effort and hardwork for Semester 1 examination.

Just him and i.

It was a beautiful breezy Wednesday.

The sun wasn’t scorching hot nor it was raining. Perfect timing for the no-air condition cafe one would say :)

Initially, i was adamant on trying either the egg benetict  or florentine. But boy1 insisted on cheese burger. Ugh.

Of course i gave in. It was supposed to be his day, his calling after all. I supposed i could have ordered 2 portions, 1 eggy brekkie for me and 1 cheese burger for him. However, it would be an unwise move. We won’t be able to finish’em all!

Can you spot the horse on the left pic? Boy1 was terribly excited. Then, on the table next to us, we had a sleeping cat as neighbour – almost like our only neighbour on that particular day to be exact! We’ve never felt more serene and peaceful.

We started our meal off with strawberry milkshake – boy1′s pick too. While the milkshake was not too bad, it didn’t wow me either. I once read that a perfect milkshake is where the milkshake is so thick that the straw in it should just stay wherever it is placed, which simply means : loadsss of ice cream!

The cafe’s milkshake wasn’t one with the staying straw.

Because the cheeseburger will only come after 11am, i ordered a plate of scramble eggs to pick at while waiting.

Did you know that i’ve kinda mastered the art of making the perfect scrambled eggs recently? It took me 3 tries to get it perfected. I now like mine with cream cheese.

So, apart from being a sushi snob, i’m also scrambled eggs snob too ^.^

To be fair, the eggs were quite decent. I would have digged it lots last time. You know, pleased as a button and satisfied with just ketchup and a dash of freshly grated black pepper.. not knowing how much more decadent it would be when it’s cooked with cream cheese when it is done right….  :P

Then our main order came.

I was like.. wow!

So huge!

So generous!

And only $14!

Oh goody yum yum!

rc9

Alas.

It was not meant to be.

It totally sucked.

The patty was … yucky to the bone. I couldn’t stomach it more than 3 bites. To be honest, the first bite was, nice.. juicy but funny texture. The second bite was, er.. what’s that? Funny minced texture. The third bite was, oh dear.. taste wasn’t right and i hate the texture!

To be sure, i took another bite and the stomach churned in protest. I almost gagged.

I ate no more.

Except for the mushrooms.

Seriously, i’m huge on burgers. HUGE huge! I’ve never ever left a burger unfinished before, even in Aston at 10pm for supper right after dinner. I can eat 2 piping hot mushroom swiss from BK at 1 go if i want to. Carl’s Jnr’s burgers are never a problem too.

But this one really can’t make it.

I rather have $2 double cheeseburger anytime.

Our leftovers.

More than half (of the burger) still intact and we had it deconstructed.

I was very disappointed to be honest. I’ve heard raves and raves on the cafe but the burger, well, somehow didn’t live up to its standard.

Will i go back again?

You bet!

I like the place too much to abandon it. Moreover, i think i just ordered the wrong thing!

And oh, the pretty waitress sucks too. Sooooo fake! *faint*

Others-who-weren’t-that-gorgeous were great though :)
