It was one of those rare days which i got forced out of the house to dine. I mean, if you know me well enough, you will know that i’ll probably even do a self-invite! *thick skin* Force me out to eat? What alien language is that?? ^_^
But yes, for this lunch, i was practically forced out of the house. I was called ‘ali’ – whatever that means – for turning down lunches again and again. Heh.

So off to 53 we went.
I love this dress!
Psstt : and the price is very reasonable too*wink*
Anyway……
First to arrive on the table :

Wasn’t paying attention to the server when they announced the name because i was busy attending to the baby…
For an aunty diner like me, the cracker tasted very much like prawn keropok – love the crisp and thinness of the cracker – and the butter-look-alike? It was hazelnut paste topped with shaved parmesan.
Needless to say, big bully beep had most of -_-

Yogurt and potato bread roll, with whipped French butter + freshly roasted barley and umm.. i forgot. ACK!
Nope, i forgot not because it was lousy, –in fact, it was a very brilliant combination in my opinion. I’ve not had butter topped with toasted barley before — i forgot because i have a bird brain now, no thanks to 3 child births :S
Without the oh-so-good butter, i doubt we could finish our bread rolls, not that the bread rolls were not up to standard or anything like that. Well, it’s just that the butter was so damn good not to be eaten up, together with all the rolls, even though we were stuffed!!

Top :Japanese tomatoes, compressed watermelon and horseradish
Bottom : Scallop and hairy bittercress, chicken oysters and buckwheat
First thought that came to mind – too pretty!!
I like both to be honest but if i could only pick one, i’ll go for the cold appetizer – the tomatoes. So refreshing! The combination of the 4 ingredients knocked me out completely. The horseradish cream was simply unforgettable. I devoured every drop of it! I did and i really did!

Top :Welsh Lamb Rump, Root Vegetables
Middle : Red Gunard and Hazelnut, Beluga Lentils and Smoked Eel
Bottom : Wagyu Cheek and Alliums, Asian Pear and Wood Sorrel
Lamb was out. I no like. Not impressed.
Fish was okay, juicy and all. But what i really liked was the lentils. Heh. I fork-picked every one of it, together with my dining companion who loved it as much as i did ;)
Beef… erm, now now.. pardon me for saying this, but my adorable companion’s first reaction was, “like the canned pork stew!” Lol. What’s worst is that i couldn’t agree more! *shakes head* Cooked for 72 hours over low temperature… man, the beef doesn’t deserve this but aiyak, can’t help it ah!
Grin.
Terrible.. this is what you get for having cheena diners like us.. (nope, i’m not shy that i’m one at all because i am!)
Poor Chef Micheal Han… :P

Top : Amaou Strawberries and Pistachio, Tahitian Vanilla
Bottom : Amadei Chuao, Banana and Malt
Hmmm.. i say, give me the Japanese Tomatoes with the Horseradish cream anytime!
(i bias. i like proper desserts!)

Apply and rum gummy – yum yum yummy!
Will i return to 53?
I very much doubt so. Don’t get me wrong.. the food wasn’t bad at all. I like molecular gastronomy more than i suspected i would but hmmm.. perhaps last week’s menu didn’t work out for me?
However, i must say.. give it a go, even if it’s just one time.. for the experience. :)
