It was literally a hot lunch date indeed.
We were already perspiring buckets by the time we arrived at the food centre. But the gf, who saw the ramen stall owners who are also a friend of mine, she practically needed to be transported to the Artic to cool herself down stat. Tee hee hee! For the uninitiated, you will know why in a while. *wink*
I didn’t plan to blog about the ramen initially but men, the $5.50 ramen is really quite something not to be blogged about! As you can already tell, all photos are taken by the iPhone. Hopefully, the pictures did not discount away its droolicious factor.
What i had that day was Spicy (mild — too hot to go full blast) Ramen with egg (additional $0.50), which was a steal!
Ramen at just $5.50?!?! And the egggggg… oohh, the eggg… just $0.50!

Seriously?
This perfect egg for just $0.50! You know what, next time.. i’ll have 2!
The serving was a little on the big side but hey, that’s fab news for big eaters, isn’t it? For just $5.50, i dare not complain much but all in all, this ramen is really quite decent. Nothing that you would expect from a food centre. The soup is the real thanggg…. no shortcuts!
If i were to bring Darcy along the next time i swing by, i will have to ask the friend to cook the noodle a leeeettle longer and an additional of 1/2 tsp of salt for the soup. Hee! You see, we got quite accustomed to the crazy salty ramen soup by now even though we don’t fancy salty food that much overall (it’s almost like how i dislike my desserts too sweet but eating a unsweetened macaron feels strange?).

Dressing down is a must when one is going to most hawker centre in this tiny island these days, especially if it happens to be a lunch date on a scorching hot day. I’m most tickled when Misstamchiak couldn’t recognize me in my get up. So sporty!, she exclaimed. But but.. i’m always dressed this way. Almost 24/7 actually. :)

like what everyone calls them, the yandao (handsome) brothers.. but to me, he’s forever Uncle Wei Li – left! muaahahhahaaa!
(photo stolen from Misstamchiak – thanks babe!)
Do check out Misstamchiak and DanielFoodDiary‘s reviews, wibetter photos.
ps : Homebaked Dough sells awesome chocolate chip cookies too.. cookies that would give Famous Amos a run for their money. In fact, methinks i’ll pick the friend’s cookies anytime rather than Amos’. Not too sweet!

Round 2 - Annie’s Peanut Ice ($2)

Verdict : so the roasted peanut topping was lovely but that was about it.

Last stop, despite the fact we were stuffed to the brim, i insisted that i must have the famous bubble tea (Daniel the King of bubble tea proclaimed that this bubble tea is the best in town!) since i’m already there.
What? 500 calories you say? What’s that?!?
Ha!
Round 3 – Woobbee Bubble Milk Tea ($2.20)

I’m no connoisseur in tea so i’m not gonna pretend i’m one. HAHA!
All i know is, gimme any cup of not too sweet bubble milk tea and i’ll drink it with zero complain. I heart bubble milk tea lah. ;)
But do check out Daniel’s review if you must know.
