If you were to ask me to name one pasta i love but can’t bring myself to order when i’m out dining, it’d be Pasta Carbonara.

I love Carbonara. I doubt no one doesn’t know that by now, judging from the number of entries dedicated to this pasta alone! Lol!

Still remember my disastrous first time?

Aiyoh… how embarrassing!

Thanks to Renee, i have sorta got it already.. if i may say so myself :)

The thing about me is, i hardly cook with recipes. I prefer to agar agar, especially for dishes that i can already figure out myself and does not involve many ingredients. Recipes are bothersome lah! :P

Trust me, once you get this pasta right, you’ll never order this outside forever… like really forever!

Reasons :

1. too expensive, for something so simple which we can whip up anytime

2. too oily. doesn’t this happen waaay to often?

3. not creamy enough. seriously! how can!

4. too creamy, until jelak.

Dang.. i’m really one big fussy, whiny pot!

Too bad i don’t have a proper recipe for you to follow… this is roughly what i do :

1. sauteed prawn heads

2. stir in minced garlic

3. add in mushrooms, sliced, follow by prawns

4. add cream

5. sprinkle salt

6. throw the cooked pasta in and let it simmer in the cream mixture for just 10-15 seconds. make sure your fire is not blazing high. too high a heat = cream becomes oil. switch off the fire. wait for 1 minute.

7. when the pasta isn’t that hot anymore (after 1 minute), stir in 1 egg (beaten) and mix it thoroughly and evenly.

8. ready to serve but wait! Not before sprinkling with lotsa freshly grated Parmesan cheese, okie?

Bon Appétit!

All packed in the box for boy1 who needed to stay back for CCA at school.. till 9pm!!

I kinda look forward to it though.. every week in fact, because i get a kick out of delivering the meal to the boy by bicycle!

I feel………

cute.

HAhahahhhahahaaa!

Carbonara

We loved it so much that we’ll be eating it for the 4th time this week! But today, we’d be having it as dinner instead of quick lunch.. with sauteed fresh mushrooms (mix together) and also chorizo sausages (at the side) for fun! ;D

Strangely, not jelak at all!

The gf and i were both very excited about the class even though we’ve been there before and didn’t fancy the food that much.

There is always an exception, or so we thought.

It was fun nevertheless, especially during dough kneading and shaping part.

Chef Angelo was sweet enough to do an impromptu demo for the gf when she asked for pasta carbonara (above pic : below right) and even made her tasted it on the spot when he was about done!

After all the hardwork, we were treated to a 3 meal-course with the pasta we’d kneaded and shaped. My first thought was “O.M.G”.

Haha!

assorted raviolis *faint*

It’s ewwwwwwwww, ok!!

I know i’m weird like that. I can never stomach food which i have seen with my very own eyes by those who have made them.

No see, can eat! See already, cannot eat!

That’s me.

The way the participants molded/patted/pinched/twirled the ravioli…. it was repulsive. Sorry, but i cannot think of any more suitable word to describe. Food is not toys, ok? Needless to say, i had like one bite and that was it :P

The rest of the pasta was ermm, not impressive as well. Out of 4 of the pasta served, i didn’t even have one which i could gladly declare, i like!. I wasn’t alone though. The gf shared the same sentiment too.. but at least, she had one pasta which she liked! As for the rest of the participants, they loved most of the pasta served. There were many ooOooHs and aAaahhss and mMmmMmmms too!

Oh well, maybe it was just me, the odd one :X
