It was supposed to be a sisters-night-out.

Very seldom we get to get together like this, with one sister in Taiwan, another in New Zealand and me, in Singapore. So whenever we have the chance as precious as this, we try to make full use of it, by spending day and night together.

Then mummy insisted on tagging along.

Trust me, we did try to dissuade her… but man, she was adamant on going and very persistent! Haha!

Merciless teasing flew off shelves like nobody’s business.

In all honesty, we of course, didn’t mind her coming along! I mean, how often this happens in your life? 2 Saturdays ago, i did my first hosting to the girlfriends at my place for a mini hi-tea session.

It was quite a last minute thingie and needless to say, the dessert menu was decided only days before the Saturday. However, having said that, red velvet cupcake was the sole purpose of getting the girlies over in the first place. They were my guinea piggies to my first attempt of red velvet cupcakes! Hee…

But i couldn’t just prepare the cuppies, could i? ^.^

So, as a gracious hostess, *ahem!* i prepared another first dessert… an experiment, again. Hahahahaa.. i’m just so mean!! Oops :P

I was curious to know if Alice Medrich’s chocolate fudge could set as chocolate truffle in chocolate cakes. Alas, it didn’t, not even when i froze it for hours. Admittedly, i panicked a little in the beginning. How in the world can i get the cake out of its mould if it couldn’t set at all?!?!

Then i did the unthinkable!

I scooped it out! ^.^

With an ice cream scoop!

And dumped it straight into clear glasses and decorated it with a slice of dried orange. Thank goodness the girlfriends didn’t think it was revolting. Heh.

But.

It was ultra ultra rich. Not meant for the faint-hearted for sure. It was so rich in chocolate that almost none of them could finish the whole cup, except me and 1 or 2 others. Not only it was so very rich, it contained too much alcohol too! 8 tbsp of Grand Marnier in total for the chocolate fudge! — psstt : but the helper, the alcohol lover, devoured it within seconds! –

I is too generous :p

Next time, i’ll cut it down to 6 ;)

Besides the sweet stuff, i managed to bake 1 of my favourite breads in the world using mixed herbs and sundried tomato instead of rosemary. The friends loved it, especially with the salted butter. Butter rocks!

Then we also had chicken wings and curry puffs, tapao-ed by the girlfriends.

And not forgetting, flowers for me!! *smile* :)

While it was a busy busy day for me (helper was still sick then but still can eat my chocolate-cake-in-the-cup), it was well worth the effort. Time spent with the gfs was priceless, especially when i hadn’t been seeing most of them for quite sometime already. Thank you girls for the lovely Saturday! :)

Okaayy, i’m really embarrassed to post this up now.. but better late than never right??? ;)

It was my first outing with the foodies, invited by the gf who happened to be the organizer that day. She kinda insisted that i go and mingle with the rest –glad that she did!–… and assured me that all of them were very nice people though young.

Uh huh, i had my initial reservations and think that i will stick out like a sore thumb! Lol – yeah, at certain point of time, one needs to admit that she’s really not young anymore..

But the gf was right indeed. Though young, these foodies are nice and friendly people! :)

Because it has been so long, i’ll skip the desserts photo altogether, instead.. let’s go behind the scene! More fun!

The gf warned the lazy me beforehand that i MUST bring my camera… after all, it’s a foodies + bloggers outing!

And i later realized why.

The group took turns to shoot a cake after another before we could pig in. Total time spent in photographing : 15 mins, at least! I cannot imagine if i didn’t have my camera that day… :P

After photographing… ooohh, here’s the best part.. we pigged in! A total number of 9 different cakes! How cool is that??

Personally, i feel that’s the best part about going out in a group (apart from getting to mingle with the same minded people). You get to eat many many different food / cakes at a fraction of price! Heee… *greedy look*
